First of all, I have to say that when my friend Becky and I saw this quilt hanging at <a href="http://www.hollyhillquiltshoppe.com/">Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe</a> about 5 years ago, we fell in love with it. It is beautiful! They had kits made with everything you needed to make one. We both ended up buying a kit. We couldn't resist. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sandy Klop is one of my favorite quilters, she designed this quilt called Black Diamond, using two Jelly Rolls, and some yardage. It goes together easily, it's just BIG, so it took a long time to put together.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The quilt uses two Jelly Rolls designed my Sandy Klop (<a href="http://www.americanjane.com/">American Jane</a>) called Recess. Here it is 5 years later, complete. It's one of the biggest quilts I've ever made.</div>

<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0599_zps0ruxy3yo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0599_zps0ruxy3yo.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the patterns in it, the stars and cubes make it so interesting to look at. I quilted it on my friend's longarm in a big loop pattern.</div>

She loved hydrangeas.<br />
Here is the original one: <a href="http://quiltorstitch.blogspot.com/2010/01/hydrangea-garden-quilt.html">Hydrangea Garden Quilt</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/HydrangeaGarden1_zpsii47lqz1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/HydrangeaGarden1_zpsii47lqz1.jpg" /></a></div>
I had an inquiry to make another one as a wedding gift. So, we used the same pattern and came up with colors that matched the wedding. I really enjoyed using that pattern again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7171_zpsa1ab42a4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7171_zpsa1ab42a4.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tried some new free motion quilting techniques on this one, it was so fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7169_zpsc25db191.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7169_zpsc25db191.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7165_zps4f3800df.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7165_zps4f3800df.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's always fun to revisit patterns and make them new again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is called Victorian Garden in the Fons & Porter magazine Jan/Feb 2008.</div>

Some quilts we make take a long time to do, and we are okay with it. Really taking your time and enjoying the process of creating something beautiful is so fulfilling. I agonized over this quilt, choosing the right fabrics, and really learning how to applique correctly was important to me. I enjoyed every minute of it!<br />
<br />
It took over two years to make this. It is all hand appliqued, and hand quilted. The pattern is called Whirligig, by <a href="http://www.sarahfielke.com/">Sarah Fielke</a>. It is in the book Quilting: The Little Things.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0249_zps6sqoitol.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0249_zps6sqoitol.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took lots of scraps to make the leaves, and tabs around the border.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0257_zpsisjamvw3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0257_zpsisjamvw3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used my favorite scraps, so cute! Anything went, I wanted bright and happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0256_zpsanq65zja.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0256_zpsanq65zja.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used Perle cotton thread for the hand quilting. It's big and fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0254_zpsuhkmyeji.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0254_zpsuhkmyeji.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hand quilted around the leaves, and stems.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0253_zpsmlmcggb5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0253_zpsmlmcggb5.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0252_zpsjazabxm9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2015%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0252_zpsjazabxm9.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also hand quilted around the yellow flowers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm now on the hunt for my next hand applique project! I'm loving this quilt, it was just too fun to make. If you like handwork, try applique, I'm sure you'll love it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

He has been talking for well over a year now about making a quilt for himself that was all Minecraft. My friend Carla and her son made a fabulous quilt, you can see here: <a href="http://coraquilts.blogspot.com/2012/03/minecraft-quilt.html">Minecraft Quilt</a> Thanks for the inspiration Carla!!<br />
<br />
I made it big enough to fit his twin size bed, and it turned out pretty fun I think! He was pretty happy with it, and has been using it ever since he got it for Christmas. I wrote all about the process of making it below.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/DSC_0237_zps3356a849.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/DSC_0237_zps3356a849.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Curren loved their quilt! I told him we could make one similar to it, but he wanted to add his character to it as well. So, he spent lots of time choosing the exact colors using a Kona color card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7704_zps17a369db.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7704_zps17a369db.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is his Minecraft character</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7705_zpsde68d102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7705_zpsde68d102.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is our layout, pretty simple!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7749_zpsa991ee1e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7749_zpsa991ee1e.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
We then went on a trip to Fabric Depot to get all of the fabric, he filled that cart right up!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7729_zps144a7ed3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7729_zps144a7ed3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then cut out lots of 2" squares, and we started laying out the design. To make perfect squares, and to make the piecing a bit easier I bought fusible interfacing with a 2" grid on it, this helped to make it look a lot better, and to keep my seams straight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7854_zps22d99a49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7854_zps22d99a49.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made it in 10 x 10 sections, it helped a lot. Here is the "dirt" section.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7858_zps4a9bb03b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7858_zps4a9bb03b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now the tree trunk, body and sky....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7860_zps288bb260.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7860_zps288bb260.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then put these two sections together, so it was halfway done. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then started the rest of it, I was already really tired by this point haha! The things we do for our kids.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7871_zps154abf9a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7871_zps154abf9a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the top almost done, I just needed to add the two borders. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7919_zps3f83cde6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Minecraft%20Quilt%202014/IMG_7919_zps3f83cde6.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This Minecraft quilt was a labor of love. It took a long time to make, and wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I am so glad I did. Curren loves it, and it was so fun to work with him in making it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

They are beautiful, colorful, and soft. Since the fabric is pretty spendy, I have collected small pieces, and joined in on a swap, where we all bought one yard, cut it into fat eighths, and traded them, so we all got lots of different pieces. It was a good way to do it!<br />
<br />
So, after all of that, I decided on a quilt pattern. This pattern was perfect for small pieces, and the overall design has a big impact. The pattern is from a book by Sarah Fielke called <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Hand-Quilted-With-Sarah-Fielke/dp/1908862599">Hand Quilted with Love</a>. I'm a huge fan of Sarah's patterns! This went together so well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0228_zps1798f736.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0228_zps1798f736.jpg" /></a></div>
Along with the Liberty of London fabric, I needed a neutral. I decided on Robert Kaufman Essex Linen in Natural. It is linen, so it's somewhat rough feeling, and I liked the difference in the feel of them. It gives it lots of texture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0232_zpsba84c710.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0232_zpsba84c710.jpg" /></a></div>
My friend Christina who blogs at <a href="http://sometimescrafter.com/">The Sometimes Crafter</a>, quilted it for me. I love her feathers, and she did a beautiful job, thanks Christina!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0234_zps25284a31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0234_zps25284a31.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am keeping this quilt for me, I love it! Do you have some Liberty of London fabric, what are you doing with it??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The fabric is called Arizona, by Art Gallery fabrics. Art Gallery has really been drawing me in lately. Whenever I go to Fabric Depot, I can't get out of that section. Their fabric is really soft to the touch, and the colors are awesome! Go check them out if you haven't already.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0994_zpsd4149fca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0994_zpsd4149fca.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut 6" strips from yardage, and used a 60 degree triangle to get my large triangles. It went together fast. And it's so pretty!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0995_zpsd4190e98.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0995_zpsd4190e98.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0998_zps36f3c2f0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0998_zps36f3c2f0.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a mint colored fabric from Cotton + Steel for the back and binding. It matched perfectly. This quilt is for sale in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/AquaReefStudios?ref=hdr_shop_menu">Etsy Shop</a>.</div>

It was so much fun! This was very simple to make.<br />
<br />
I used one charm pack and made two table runners from them. Those 5" squares go a long way! I used the fabric line The Boo Crew by Moda. I had some other fabric yardage for the borders. I made one for me and one for my mom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7039_zps209f01ca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_7039_zps209f01ca.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fabric for the back is so cool, the skeletons glow in the dark!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's all about the fabric, am I right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've made her several quilts already, and she wanted them to match the quilts that she has. This was a really fun project!<br />

I used my favorite bright and happy prints for these, and quilted them. They are like mini quilts! Each pillow is 26" square, or 65cm square.<br />

It was so versatile, and would look good in any color combination. I decided to go with aqua (big surprise!). I used a lot of Cotton + Steel and Architextures fabric, with a lot of low volume scraps. This quilt was really easy to make, and I ended up adding a few rows to make it bigger.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had fun quilting big loops on it using my friend Beth's longarm machine. I'd love a longarm, but we'd have to sleep on the couch in order to make room for one haha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

One of my friends said she was joining the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/the_sewing_room_swap/">Sewing Room Swap</a>. I had to jump on board, I hadn't done a swap for a long time. We all got our names and suggestions for what our partner's would want. Everyone really went all out and made beautiful items for each other's sewing rooms.<br />
<br />
My partner loves Anna Maria Horner, and wanted something to carry her hand work around in, since she's always on the go. I settled on making the <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2013/01/divided-basket-pattern.html">Divided Basket</a> by Noodlehead.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0367_zps43948424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0367_zps43948424.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And the <a href="http://aquilterstable.blogspot.com/2012/08/triple-zip-pouch-tutorial.html">Triple Zip Pouch</a>. So much fun to make! I changed the pattern to make it a bit longer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_4642_zpsde35bc40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/IMG_4642_zpsde35bc40.jpg" /></a></div>
My partner sent me the most beautiful items, I can't believe how well she had me pegged! I am thrilled with what I received. It was really a fun swap!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/DSC_0537_zpsf0a1c1c3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/DSC_0537_zpsf0a1c1c3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just love it all, the mini quilt is hanging in my bedroom, it's adorable.</div>

The pattern is by <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/">The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery</a>. Isn't it the cutest? <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've stitched so many "monthly" samplers, I just can't help it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've yet to find a new cross stitch project, I've got to start digging in my stash to see what I can find!</div>

It's a very fun pattern, that uses fat quarters, and comes together to make a large 80" x 80" quilt top. My friends and I did a quilting bee and all made each other blocks, this was the pattern I chose. It makes me so happy to see this quilt finished.<br />
<br />
You have all got fabric stashed away for the perfect project right? That is what these fabrics were, my favorites! A lot of Tula Pink, and Anna Maria Horner, with a few perfect beachy fabrics thrown in.<br />
<br />

I used a white with gray dots for the background, it softens it quite a bit. The fabric is from Bonnie & Camille's Moda fabric line called Vintage Modern. The binding is a Tula Pink fabric from her line Salt Water. I used an aqua voile on the back of it. My friend Beth let me borrow her long arm to quilt it. It was such a fun quilt to make. Thanks for the memories Jenn, Barbara, Colleen, Ellen, Becky, Elizabeth and Joni!<br />
I was able to finish this quilt while camping up in the mountains at Odell Lake, and the whole reason we went all of the way out there was to see Crater Lake! Have you been there??? It was so beautiful, here are a few photos, and yes, the water really is that blue.<br />

I wanted to make one in bright colors, and finally, I got around to it. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is the quilt I made for the book:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0168_zpse7a92b6e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0168_zpse7a92b6e.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When my best friend from high school told me she was expecting a baby girl this summer, I knew exactly what I wanted to make for her. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5403_zps82e0f67d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5403_zps82e0f67d.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5641_zps41f2fb1d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5641_zps41f2fb1d.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5860_zps48f72ba8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/Quilting%20Pics/IMG_5860_zps48f72ba8.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I went for bright and summery.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also decided to leave out the sashing and borders for this quilt, I didn't want it to be too big.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0633_zpsc64b5ee2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0633_zpsc64b5ee2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finished it while we were in Sisters for the quilt show. The house we stayed at had a corral out back, perfect for pictures.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0637_zps16a5b961.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0637_zps16a5b961.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love making quilts with lots of pieces, it's a bit fussy and requires some concentration. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0642_zps8795b3c5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0642_zps8795b3c5.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I free motion quilted flowers on each block, and put a soft aqua flannel backing on it. It was so fun to make, and with each stitch I thought of my friend and her soon to be baby, such a wonderful thing!</div>

My kids and I went up and spent the weekend with Beth and her family. We had the best time!<br />
<br />
On Friday we went and explored. I took the kids on a hike called Black Butte Lookout. The area is just beautiful, with a panorama of mountain peaks and wildflowers everywhere. I must tell you though, if you aren't in the best shape, it's a hard hike. I was sore for a few days afterwards.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/DSC_0551_zps9aa62458.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/DSC_0551_zps9aa62458.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The views made it all worth it though!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/DSC_0590_zpsc097c0b8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/DSC_0590_zpsc097c0b8.jpg" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Beth and I were able to get some sewing time in of course.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/IMG_5968_zpsbfa81d96.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/IMG_5968_zpsbfa81d96.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Saturday was the quilt show, it was HOT, HOT, HOT! When I got back to my car it said it was 95 degrees, woo! It was great though, there were over 1,400 quilts hanging all over the town of Sisters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/IMG_5982_zpsc577ade4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Sisters%20Quilt%20Show/IMG_5982_zpsc577ade4.jpg" /></a></div>

This has taken me almost a year to complete, and I'm loving it. I bought a fat quarter bundle of the fabric line Happy Go Lucky last summer. I loved the navy, orange, and reds together. So, I started pulling out my favorite prints, and then dug through my stash and put together a quilt top!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0756_zps4d957641.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0756_zps4d957641.jpg" height="640" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
The pattern is called Pow Wow, and is designed by <a href="http://www.cluckclucksewpatterns.com/">Cluck Cluck Sew</a>. This is the 4th quilt I've made from her patterns, and she is an amazing designer! She doesn't waste fabric, she has really clear instructions, and her patterns come in multiple sizes. Go and check her out, you won't be disappointed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0755_zps07d39301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0755_zps07d39301.jpg" height="640" width="467" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used one of my all time favorite fabrics for the back, a starfish print from Going Coastal. It's the best! I have this quilt for sale in my Etsy shop: <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/AquaReefStudios">Aqua Reef Studios</a>.</div>

<br />
I worked on my Quilty Fun sew along off and on all winter. It was a fun project to do, and I liked that the blocks didn't take a lot of time to make, and they were all so cute! I think the bumble bee is my favorite block. The pattern is by Lori Holt of <a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/">Bee in my Bonnet</a>, from her book Quilty Fun. I highly recommend it, her instructions are great.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/IMG_5333_zpsd25d2b8f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/IMG_5333_zpsd25d2b8f.jpg" /></a></div>
I was able to get all of the blocks finished, and the top put together a few weeks ago. Now, onto the borders. I have to find the "perfect" fabrics for this. Isn't it fun? And it used up a lot of scraps, which was great.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have lots of fun projects to show you, and have missed blogging a lot. I hope some of you are still out there reading this blog. I recently finished a quilt that I've been working on for years. Dianne of <a href="http://suburbanstitcher.com/">The Suburban Stitcher</a> and I started it back in <a href="http://quiltorstitch.blogspot.com/2011/04/stella-blue-quilt-along.html">April of 2011</a> (oh my, that's awhile back) I worked on it off and on that year, and finished the quilt top in 2013. It's a big quilt, with a lot of pieces! Sometimes quilting is all about the process, taking your time and enjoying it. Honestly, the part I got hung up on after the top was done was getting it quilted. My friend Barbara came to the rescue and quilted it for me on her longarm machine, what a blessing!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0063_zps151d30cc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0063_zps151d30cc.jpg" /></a></div>
The quilt is 90" x 90", I made it big enough to fit on our queen size bed. It's a beautiful quilt, the colors are fabulous! The fabric is by The French General for Moda. I used a fat quarter bundle, and added in some matching fabric from my stash. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0061_zpseecf625f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0061_zpseecf625f.jpg" /></a></div>
The pattern is Stella Blue, by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company. I used a large check homespun for the backing, it's so soft.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0066_zps08ced71f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2014%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0066_zps08ced71f.jpg" /></a></div>
It sure feels good to be done with this quilt, and finally be using it. Now onto the next finish!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03789898198426548526noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36615958.post-26489721105680293042013-12-22T08:00:00.000-08:002013-12-22T08:00:00.963-08:00Boxy Pouch presents!! These little pouches are super fun to make, and really addicting. It's fun picking out the perfect fabrics for your friends, and filling them with goodies. They make the perfect gift! I tried a few different tutorials out and settled on this one being my favorite: Make it Modern - <a href="http://modernquiltlove.wordpress.com/2009/07/14/perfect-box-pouch-tutorial/">Perfect Box Pouch Tutorial</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0180_zps535a36a4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0180_zps535a36a4.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0179_zps158c57be.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0179_zps158c57be.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The tutorial says to use pinking shears for the edges, inside of the pouch, so your fabric won't fray. I love this method, it's faster than using the zig zag stitch to finish the edges off. I have a 45mm rotary blade that works perfectly for this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0186_zpse7d2088a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0186_zpse7d2088a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also added the little pull tabs on the end of the pouch to help pull the zipper open. My son drew everybody a Christmas picture to put inside, and I added my favorite chocolates.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0188_zpsf2f362ee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0188_zpsf2f362ee.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0183_zpsdbd23755.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0183_zpsdbd23755.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lots of fun to make!!</div>
Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03789898198426548526noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36615958.post-7701297356591747832013-12-20T17:24:00.001-08:002013-12-20T17:24:33.445-08:00Sewing Machine CoverAfter making a sewing machine cover for my fellow quilt guild member, I decided I needed one as well. My friend, <a href="http://www.mobedell.com/">Mo Bedell</a>, designs some amazing fabric for Andover, and she kindly gave me some of her scraps, so I used them to make a machine cover this past week. Her fabric is so bright and happy, I loved working with it!<br />
<br />
I used the pattern from <a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/">Lori Holt's</a> book, <a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/quilty-fun-book">Quilty Fun</a>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0348_zps2d53f703.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0348_zps2d53f703.jpg" /></a></div>
I used a dark grey Kaffe Fasset shot cotton for the binding and little spools on the front pockets. It framed all of that bright color in nicely. If you don't need a cover, you can use it as a mat for the machine, and the pockets hang down to hold your tools. I like it this way too! I sew on a large plastic table, and my machine vibrates a bit, so maybe this will help??<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0350_zps431bdb2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0350_zps431bdb2a.jpg" /></a></div>

Do you have all of your Christmas sewing projects completed yet? I'm happy to say that I finally do, and I'm so glad! Enjoy your weekend everyone!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03789898198426548526noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36615958.post-20785841248580810032013-12-17T08:00:00.000-08:002013-12-17T08:00:06.836-08:00Winter Wonderland Cross Stitch PillowThe Winter Wonderland sampler I finished back in <a href="http://www.quiltorstitch.blogspot.com/2013/02/winter-wonderland-sampler.html">February</a> was begging to be made into something. With cross stitch pieces, it can be hard to know what to make them into! I decided to make a throw pillow with mine. I was glad that I did, it looks very cute on my couch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0236_zps4e5eeda0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0236_zps4e5eeda0.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That pattern is by <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/">The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery</a>, go check them out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0238_zpse8a93073.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0238_zpse8a93073.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0239_zps0ce310ad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0239_zps0ce310ad.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's good to have this out for the Christmas season so we can enjoy it. The back of the pillow is the same green fabric, and it's an envelope style closure. Simple!</div>

I love making them, they are so fun. I was given a stack of red and green fabrics, and off I went.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0198_zps2e733d2c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0198_zps2e733d2c.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0200_zps52ba72ba.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0200_zps52ba72ba.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I realized after I took these photos that I shouldn't have used such a bright background, the stockings kind of blend in a little too much.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0203_zps0a8c272c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0203_zps0a8c272c.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did some hand stitching with DMC thread on them, I like the look of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0204_zpsa97f3cf3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0204_zpsa97f3cf3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the backs of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0207_zpsf0f91d88.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0207_zpsf0f91d88.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern I used is called Merry, by Camille Roskelley. I have made lots of these stockings now, and can't recommend the pattern enough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2012%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0170.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2012%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0170.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These I made last year for my family...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have you made stockings, what pattern do you use??</div>

I've been really good about using scraps for this project so far, the brighter, the better! </div>

Did all of you think having Thanksgiving at the end of the month cut us a bit short to prepare for Christmas?? We had a great trip to Utah to visit friends and family, and are now home attending parties and making gifts. I have been working on several things at once, and have slowly been finishing them because of it. <br />
<br />
My first was super fun. For the <a href="http://portlandmodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/">Portland Modern Quilt Guild</a> in November we all bring a sandwich bag full of fabric, and we take home somebody else's bag. We then have to make something with the fabric, adding in only one other fabric if you want (I always add more haha!) then we bring it to the December meeting and we get to take home what another member made out of our fabric. It's sooooo fun! This year I got a stack of Joel Dewberry fabric called Heirloom. It is GORGEOUS. She asked for a sewing machine cover or tote bag, or anything! I've never made a sewing machine cover, so that intrigued me. I ran with it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0191_zpsf91565bd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0191_zpsf91565bd.jpg" /></a></div>
I didn't want to cut the fabric up too much since the prints were really large. I pieced the SEW letters using the pattern <a href="http://www.ohfransson.bigcartel.com/product/refrigerator-magnets-quilt-blocks-modern-patchwork-pdf-pattern">Refrigerator Magnets</a> by Elizabeth Hartman. They were fun to make. I then hand quilted inside the letters a little bit to define them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0197_zps28baf2d0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0197_zps28baf2d0.jpg" /></a></div>
And the photos aren't too great, it gets dark here too early now!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0195_zps7555d143.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0195_zps7555d143.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0192_zps109e186a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/ae295/oregonsurfers1/2013%20Quilt%20Finishes/DSC_0192_zps109e186a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The meeting is tonight, so I get to give it to her! I'm so excited to see what she thinks of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is much more to share, now that several things are done, look for more posts soon. </div>

This week we made 2 scrappy log cabin blocks. I love log cabin quilts, they are one of my favorites. I pulled out my scraps and put these together.<br />
