Harvest finish & the weekend.

I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Day! We had a nice time, it was great having a day off. We went to Seaside, at the coast here and had a fun day. There was a recent storm at the coast with 100 mph winds. I didn't realize the extent of damage it caused. There are huge pine forests here, and so many trees were just blown over, broken, uprooted etc. It is a big mess. It's hard to imagine a wind that could cause 150 ft trees to just blow over. Here is a photo we took off of the highway. The trees are broken just like matchsticks...
Last weekend we went up to visit friends in Anacortes, Washington. It is a town just north of Seattle. We were able to go out boating to Friday Harbor in the San Jaun islands for the afternoon. What a lot of fun that was! The weather was cold and windy though, but we managed to enjoy ourselves anyway :)
We went to an inlet and walked up the dock...
And we stalked this bald eagle who was busy looking for fish...
And went and checked out the view from various vantage points...
I started this little project on the trip to Seattle. This will be a gift for my mother in law, her birthday is next month. I finished it up Monday night as the ball was dropping in NYC :D It is a chart by Waxing Moon Designs. I am going to put it up on my “For Trade” list, so if any of you are interested let me know! I am not sure how I’ll finish this yet, probably into some sort of wall hanging. It was a fast one to stitch too.
I worked on The Cape yesterday on the drive to the coast. It is coming right along. Sweet Pea had commented on an earlier post that it looks like Cape May in NJ. You are right, it is! The designer said it’s a tribute to this beach, as it’s her favorite vacation spot. I think I’m going to leave this lighthouse white now too :D So, I’ll continue on with it as it is. Thanks for your input everybody!!!
I have more to share, but won’t this post is already really long LOL! Thanks for stopping by everyone :D

looks like you had some good family time, what a blessing. Your pieces are very nice. I especially like your Cape piece because of the swirls and I have a love of all things nautical.

Your finish is just as cute as can be! And the Cape is looking great :)
You and your kiddos look like you were having a great time...makes me sad to see all those trees snapped...but I guess that's part of nature.
Happy New Year!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I love nature and being at the water. I really like the harvest piece you did for your mother-in-law. I am glad you found out about the lighthouse before you started stitching it.

Take care
Teresa

Cool pictures! My DH would love that eagle pic - he likes photographing and watching birds (We even went down to a local nature preserve by us that is home to many bald eagles).

I'm glad you're leaving the lighthouse white. It's one of the lights we visit every year for the NJ lighthouse challenge.

Wonderful photos, it's always wonderful to see all the nature photos (and family photos of course) in your blog! Thank you for sharing :)

The Harvest finish is pretty, lovely autumn colours. I like The Cape too. Oh I hope that my package to you arrives soon, it should have arrived by now, but I guess it's just late as there is so much mail travelling in the end/beginning of the year.

It's amazing what damage high winds can do, isn't it?

Your bald eagle pictures are awesome. And your family day out looks like such fun!!

Quite the storm!!! That must have been wild.
I love the pictures of your little ones (and you :})...how come that eagle did not fly off???
Nice job on your MIL stitching and your cape may project.

Need to check out your swap list :)

What wonderful photos. it is so very sad to see all those tree destroyed like that. We had an ice storm several years ago in Ontario that decimated many old trees. it was awful. The bald eagle photos are really good. Lucky you. the photos of the kids are just the cutest.

I love the name of your blog....could very well call mine the same! We were on Whidby Island in October (right near Anacortes) My DH and I like to stay at a little country inn there when we need some adult time away. Right after Christmas we took our kids to the Seattle area for a couple of days and it was so much fun. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see a lot of the quilt and stitching shops there, but that is ok, I have been to alot of them on a shop hop before. Happy New Year to You. I am visiting you for the first time.

You do look cold in your photos! It's amazing how the wind could destroy so many trees!
