I joined a Flickr group called StashPact11. They are trying hard not to buy any fabric (or yarn for those knitters out there) for the whole year. You can make your own pact, and write it down over there, and we all help each other to stick to it. It’s going to be hard, I’m not gonna lie. I love buying fabric, I am addicted to it I think (I know). So, this will be fun to talk to other people about it, and it’ll be even funner to use all that pretty fabric I’ve got in my house waiting so patiently.
So, in joining this group it has focused me looking at the fabrics I’ve got, and all of my patterns. I plan to get started on this right away. I’ve been making piles of fabric and joining them up with patterns that might look good with them… it’s soooo fun. There are stacks all over my bedroom right now!
Here is a stack I am loving right now. I want to make a baby boy quilt using these greens, browns and maybe a little orange. I can’t decide for sure on the orange, but I kind of like it. I want to do a simple square in a square pattern.
This fabric is for another red/blue/tan quilt. I made one last year and gave it to my coworker. My sister is needing one now too I think. I’ll probably do another half square triangle quilt with them, and use a different layout.
And this pretty jellyroll I want to use and make this quilt from the Jelly Roll Quilts book I am constantly drooling over.
Then there is the quilt from Elizabeth Hartman’s book I am loving. I have a lot of fabrics that would look adorable with this pattern I think…
But what about my Rural Jardin Fat Quarter bundle? Cathy is making a quilt using these fabrics, which led me to commenting on how pretty it was, which led her to commenting back that I should use mine and we could sew them together… which is leading me to wanting to start this quilt right now. *edited to add* The pattern is called Stella Blue and is by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company :)
This is too fun isn’t it? Now you go to your stash and do the same, you’ll love it!

what is the name of that last one? is it a miss rosie pattern?
Hi, I know there is no need for me to make a pact not to buy any fabric for a year or cross stitch patterns for that matter, because I would never be able to do it! I would have withdrawls! I love the garden trellis pattern! Can't wait to see it when you get it done! Also love the top that you finished in your last post and the fabrics that you used! All your quilt pics makes me want to quilt. I have been cross stitching alot lately and have kind of let my quilt projects go. Noticed your Shores of Hawk Run piece! I am thinking of starting this one soon. Is it a difficult stitch? How long did it take you?
Love reading your blog! Cross stitch and quilting are my favs as well!

Good luck with your pact - great idea! I love all your fabrics, especially the pile for the red/blue/tan quilt. I would definitely add the orange to the first quilt, I think it would be a nice pop of colour!
I was thinking about starting a blog about this very thing. :) I love what you've picked out so far. I'm out of town right now, and after reading your post, can't wait to get home and start pulling fabrics. It will be VERY hard for me not to buy fabric, as that is my total addiction, but I have a ridiculous amount of stash that I could use up and make some pretties. Sooo, that's the plan. Good luck with yours. I know you can do it, and will have these two quilts made up in no time! HUGS
I just found your blog and sure enjoy all your fabric. I have 2 things maybe in common with you. My daughter loves anything Amy Butler and I fell in love with your quilt. Also, my son lives in Portland. I am a cross stitcher, but have never visited the cross stitch store there. Is it nice? I may try to not buy for a year too, but cross stitch is my thing, so great idea!
You can do it! It's really not so hard giving up the fabric shopping once you concentrate on making beautiful quilts. I gave it up the year before (then went nuts last year - ha!) but am back on the wagon again this year... with the exception of maybe Sisters... I don't think I could resist buying fabric then! I also allow myself to buy batting and backing fabric so that I can finish stuff. For you, maybe just stay out of Holly Hill and you'll be okay. ;^)
I also love that you're pulling together fabrics to go to with patterns. I think I might have to do that as well. It's such a good idea! The Rain or Shine quilt is going to be *adorable*!
Stella Blue is going to look fantastic with the fabric you have selected. You have some great projects going on!
I always have loved the Stella pattern. FG will be a great choice to use for it. I like all your projects combos! I am going to have to tighten the belt and look in my stash-- you have inspired me, but I don't think that my stash will look as good as yours!
I laughed when I read this post. One addicted quilter fondling her fabrics, patterns, stash etc. What beautiful colors you have sorted out! Have fun!
Looks like you had fun going through your fabrics. I'm about to do something similar today, though only pulling different color combos for 2 different types of projects. Good luck with the StashPact! I saw that group on Flickr and was definitely intrigued, but know myself and my inclinations too well to join in right now! But it might be interesting to follow as an observer and get inspired!
Well, let's see....if it takes you a year on each of those you've pulled....that will take you to five years. Love the fabrics & patterns you have put together.
