I hit a road block with my current stitching project back in November. I have been slowly, but surely working on Gina, Queen of the Sea by Ink Circles. It has been a WIP for several years now, and the thread I am using is an over-dyed thread. Well, while working on it, I had to take some stitching out, I made a counting error, and the thread had left dye on the fabric! I was really bummed out about it, and haven't picked it up since then.
See the dye lines in the upper right hand corner? I have to take that whole line out to restitch. What would you do??
My friend Charissa told me to just restitch it, and adjust the pattern for the mistake I made in stitching. I think I was one stitch off... I could easily do that, but still...

It is such a beautiful piece Heather. I would adjust the stitch and work away. Don't give up on it!!
Many years ago I finished a piece that had a stitch one-stitch-off somewhere in the middle. It looks OK, I guess, but everytime I looked at it, all I saw was that mistake. Now I always rip out my errors when I discover them. =)
Try dabbing the stain with some bleach. Just be careful not to get it on the thread. I've heard wonderful things about bleach pens, but never tried them myself.
I would be really careful with the bleach. I would probably just fix the stitch, and continue on. See if it really looks "off" to have the dark line in there. After it's finished you could "distress it" with some spray, but then again, you have to worry about the thread running.
Don't you just hate it when things like this happen? I'm so sorry! That is a huge pain.

Is it dye or lots of little fibers???? Sometimes if you brush it with a toothbrush, the toothbrush will pick up the fibers. It's such a pretty piece I hope you can figure things out :-).
You could always cross stitch white over it. I have had to do that with pieces in the past.
Just follow your friend's advice. I do needlepoint, so I can't help you much.
