Well here she is, after almost a year of working on. The hexagon quilt is officially done and ready for use! I kept the quilting straightforward and simple. I outlined the star and the inside pattern of the block. I used a turquoise print for the binding, my favorite color.
I got creative with the back, I only had 3 yards of the flower and bird print. So... using the leftover triangles from the blocks, I pieced them into long rows and added them. I had the pink in my stash and it was just the right color, so I added a strip of that to the bottom. This is for sure the hardest quilt I've pieced, but all of that hard work and unpicking of seams and re-ironing was worth it. It's such a pretty quilt. The fabric I used is called Plume. Tula Pink designed it for Moda. It was a jelly roll, with white background fabric. Julie at Jaybird Quilts had a quiltalong for it. I really encourage you to make one!

Wow, that quilt is gorgeous!! I love the addition of the triangles on the back. I may just have to put this on my mile long 'to do' list. I'm so inspired by your beautiful work!
I love that quilt! It look old fashioned and yet has a touch of modern. I really like that backing! Totally different!

Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations!
Wow, really, really gorgeous and I love how you did the back.
I love how this quilt turned out, the colors are so pretty and I really like the more traditional quilting technique. I can't imagine doing that quilting on a regular ol' sewing machine though, yikes! My mom quilts like this, but by hand using a huge floor-standing quilting hoop.
Heather, that is a true work of art! I just want to wrap myself up in it & never take it off. It's so lovely!
Heather, it's lovely! And I love what you did with the back! I am definitely going to make one of these one day using Julie's instruction - in fact I have my ruler all ready to go!
That turned out absolutely beautiful! I love it and you did an amazing job on it!
Beautiful!!! GREAT JOB! Love the design and the colors! So impressed how your backing is straight!
It's beautiful. I love the creative solution for the back. No one would ever know that wasn't planned all along.
