Dash away All, Christmas in April

I'm on a Christmas kick apparently.  I recently finished my Holiday Happy quilt, and now I finished my Dash Away All cross stitch!  This went really quick, which I appreciated.  I worked on it a lot while watching my son do Taekwondo.  The repetative pattern made it easy peasy.

I've had this in my stash for a long time, and I was happy to finally make it.

The chart is by Henzeit, and the kit came with the fabric and bells, I chose threads from my stash of lovely overdyed threads.

My fave part?  The bells, so cute :-)  I plan on getting this framed and hanging it around Christmas time.

Next cross stitch project?  I BIG GIANT one.  It's a Dimensions Kit, and it is called Thunder Ridge.  My sister gave it to me as a gift several years ago, and finally it's seeing the light of day.  This one will take me awhile, so I'll probably work on other small ones along with it, but that's okay, I like big projects.  I am CUH-RAY-ZY LOL!

Sandy Klop Class

My fave quilt shop Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe in West Linn, Oregon is having a 2 day class taught by Sandy Klop of American Jane next weekend!  This, by the way, is not an advertisement haha!  Even though I am their spokesperson, I love that place :-)

So, my birthday is next Friday April 27th.  This class happens to be on the 27th and 28th... so I think that means the stars have all aligned and that I am just supposed to go to this class don't you think??  I registered and am super excited about it.  Best Birthday present ever!

I have never taken a "formal" quilting class before like this.  I've learned from friends, or techniques from my quilt guild. Have any of you taken a quilting class, and if so, what did you think about it?  This class we will be making her quilt pattern called Triple Crown.  It looks great doesn't it?  I have loved Sandy for a long time, so I look forward to meeting her and learning from her.  I will let you know how it goes!

500th Post!

As I was getting ready to make a post, I noticed this is my 500th post!  Holy guacamole! :-)  That is a lot of blogging about my hobby isn't it?  I am happy to say, I still love blogging, and making things, and sharing with all of you out there.  Thank you for taking interest in my projects, it has been so much fun!

I have a quilt finish to share today!  I am thrilled with how this quilt turned out.  It has a new to me element in it.  Gray fabric.  This quilt has a lot of gray prints, mixed in with faded yellows, greens and aquas.  I wanted a spring quilt, and this is perfect!

I used the pattern Dream Big from the book Simplify by Camille Roskelley.  I'd been wanting to do a quilt using the "plus" pattern forever.  The fabrics are mostly Curio by Basic Grey for Moda.  I also used Hometown and Sunkissed by Sweetwater prints, and assorted Basic Grey fabrics from other lines.

The Curio fabric is beautiful!  The colors sucked me right in, I only ordered some yardage of about 9 prints, and have enjoyed them a lot.  Notice my new living room carpet (eep!!  It's so great!!)  Wait a minute, how'd that Nerf football thing get in the picture?  Kids!!  Keeping it real haha!

The pattern was really easy to follow, the hardest thing was layout, but once that was done, it went quickly.  I can't wait to try out other patterns from the book. I did straight line quilting using my walking foot and a light grey thread.  The back is a mishmash of stash fabric.  I used up several pieces that have been hanging out in my stash for years, and some of the Curio Yardage as well.  I had fun throwing it together.

Bitty Treat Bags

So Easter was going to happen, and at church I work with the Young Women (12-18 year olds).  I really wanted to make them something, but to make 20-somethings can be difficult right?  I settled on the Small Treat Totes that Miss Monica of the Happy Zombie designed.  It takes 2 fat quarters to make 4 bags, and I had fun pulling fabrics for this project.

So here they are 20 super cute adorable Easter gifties.  I filled them with grass and candy :-)

The girls loved them, yay!!  

And in other news, I finished my pillow, sorry it is wrinkled a bit, we have been using it!  I used the Faux Pleated Pillow tutorial from V&Co.  It went together easily, instead of using a jelly roll, I used fat quarters.  I love how it turned out!

The weather has been crazy here in Portland, it rains, and rains... then the sun comes out for a few hours, then it rains some more.  It has given me a lot of time to be indoors sewing, which is a blessing and a curse!  haha!!
