Quilt Group

A group of us have been meeting twice a month to sew and make bee blocks for each other and we are loving it!  Elizabeth had us all make a different color of "butterfly" for a quilt she is making her daughter.  I chose the red, they were fun to make.

We met at my house with bags of scraps, piled them on the floor and all went home with new ones for Jenn's blocks!

Jenn's block was Arkansas Cross Roads, it's going to be the coolest quilt!

We exchanged aprons for a Christmas swap this week!  We all had a lot of fun sewing for each other, I love my friends :)

WIP Wednesday

Well, I have a lot of catching up to do on this blog!  There has been a lot of sewing going on around here, and I finally can share it all, I have a few minutes to sit down this morning.  Did you all have a nice Thanksgiving?  We went up to visit our friends in Anacortes, Washington.  It was so great, the weather was nice for us to go out boating and enjoy the San Juan Islands.   We had a great dinner with them, and loved having a long weekend to play!

When I asked my mom what she wanted for her birthday this year, she asked for a tablerunner for her dresser, I was happy to make one for her!  I used these pretty blues and tans to make it, and she loved it, so that is good news.

My friend Barbara asked me to piece a fall table runner for her.  The fabrics were gorgeous!!  I really liked making this one.

I had a friend approach me about free motion quilting a baby quilt for her, she even paid me, which was awesome.  I love how it turned out, I quilted pretty swirls all over it in white thread, and then bound it for her too.

And Barbara had me piece this awesome Christmas quilt top too. She had a big stack of Christmas fabrics in her stash, and I had a bunch too, so we combined them to make this!

I have several more things to show, but this is enough for now!  I love being able to work on all of these pretty things, it has made me really happy.  Enjoy your week!

Cross Stitching! Kawaii Winter Sampler

Are any of you on Instagram?  It is yet another highly addicting social media platform.  If you are on there, you can follow me, my name is "oregonsurfers"  I post on there at least once a day, if not more, it's so much fun!!

The reason I bring this up is because I could not resist the cross stitch pattern that was circulating on a lot of my friends Instagram photos.  The started the Kawaii Winter Sampler.  The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery is doing an advent cross stitch pattern, releasing 5 a week for the month of November.  I couldn't resist how cute and simple they were!  I was really stuck in a rut on my cross stitching and this has pulled me right out of it.

The color chart is using DMC or Cosmo floss, I already have so much DMC, I chose to use that brand of thread.  I had a 28 count linen in my stash that I pulled to use.  I saw somebody was using a really pretty blue linen and it looked awesome! (why didn't I think of that??)

More Stockings, this time for my sister

I have been running around a lot lately, I was able to take the kids and go visit my family in Colorado for a week, and we had such a great time!  We stayed with my sister and her family, and visited my Mom and Dad while we were there.

My sister asked that I make her stockings for her family, she loves blue and silver for Christmas.  I luckily had lots of this fabric from a quilt I had made previously, plus she had been collecting fat quarter she liked as well, so they came together so nice!

I machine quilted all of the stockings, and used vintage ric rac for the hangers.

The insides and backs of all of the stockings are different, using the pretty fabrics my sister had given me.  I love how they turned out.
